Plus one can always watch wishes any time via the internet. It was walts Dream and envision to keep updating the never completed WDW.
We have it at least eight times on video if anyone wants to stop by the house and watch it!
Ahhh listening to the “Happily Ever After” music reminded me of one of my dreams… always wanted to play or sing in the recordings of any of the shows/rides/fireworks. If I could have played Goofy’s clarinet in Spectromagic…
You mean like the Wonders of Life pavilion? I think mostly from the lack of sponsorship. Disney doesnt want to eat the cost of running an attraction without a sponsor I suppose. The all mighty dollar wins again.

Yes, that’s a good example. Pleasure Island is another that comes to mind. For years and years that sat empty, but before it closed I would often find The Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse packed
The upside, as @abeach mentioned is at least they already have something planned. Where Launch Bay is now, which used to be Innoventions, which was the Carousel of Progress….sat empty FOREVER.
And Mad T Party at DCA stopped last year…yet nothing has been there since. And no plans (that we know of yet) for anything to replace it. I know they finally just took out all the props from the party, but still. It’s just open and boring.Right? That’s the most annoying part! What was the reason for closing it if they’re just leaving it empty? I doubt some of this stuff was so unpopular that they were losing money by continuing to operate it.
I’m sure Mad T Party was bringing in tons of $$ from the alcohol. I know when I’d go, they were certainly getting plenty from my friends and I!
I’m hoping if they DO made that area into a Marvel themed something, that they bring back a nighttime party. It was always packed when it was elecTRONica and MadT.WISHES is leaving?!?! When??? What will replace it? OMG I’m so sad!
It’s leaving May 11th I believe to be replaced the next day (or night) with Happily Ever After. I think I had the same reaction as you but after thinking about it and reading about the replacement and watching the video, and finally realizing that Wishes has had a 14 year run, I’ve come to accept it. Keeping things fresh and new after a certain time is good in my opinion. @nascfan Thank you so much for your post. You are absolutely right Wishes did have great run & Disney does have to keep things fresh. It’s just hard to say goodbye to something you love. I really liked the video. Thank you for adding that to your post. I think seeing it helped me. I guess there is always this fear that what replaces something you love won’t be quite as good. It looks like HEA will be an incredible show. I love how part of the show will be projected on the castle. That is so neat!
When I read the description of the replacement for “Wishes“, it seemed to me that maybe they are going to combine the castle projection shows with the nightly fireworks. It talked alot about castle projections. I believe it will be wonderful (Disney doesn’t do unwonderful for MK fireworks) and inventive. I understand the sorrow over the loss of Wishes, the story and music pull at my heart always, but because of D-Cot and YouTube we can listen anytime we want. I can assure you though, I will be watching Wishes as many times as I can while I am there the week after next!
Just a random thing, whenever I listen to the Nemo the Musical Area Loop at 28:36 I have to lower the sound because my boss always thinks her cell phone is ringing.
