This weekend, D-COT went to Disney Springs, and it was fantastic! The questions that most people are asking are: 1. Was everyone wearing masks? and 2. What was it like wearing a mask in the Florida heat? The short answers are 1: Yes (mostly) and 2: It was Magically hot & muggy.
While at Disney Springs, both Friday & Saturday, we parked in the Orange Garage, and were instructed by signage to wear our masks immediately. A family in front of us who did not have masks were given free masks from a Disney employee before entering the temperature screening. While waiting for temperature checks, we passed by several touchless hand sanitizing stations which just about everyone was using. When we left the parking garage and entered Disney Springs, we noticed that ‘most’ everybody had on masks unless they were eating / drinking. There were a few people that we noticed who were carrying their masks, but for the most part people were following the social distancing and mask rules.
To be honest, yes, it is uncomfortable wearing masks for a long period of time in the Florida heat & humidity. However, It was comforting and very MAGICAL to hear the fabulous Disney Springs background music, and to once again be able to shop in the Co-Op, World of Disney, & Basin stores. Not every store is open yet, but hopefully they will open soon. Personally, the reward of being at Disney was worth it to me to wear a mask for a couple of hours. Hopefully the pandemic will be over soon…. but in the meantime I will gladly go to my Happy Place and follow the rules to experience some Magical Pixie Dust! xoxo

Just being there and hearing the music, it’s like a relief of some sorts. Not totally “normal” but a sense of comfort that just makes you feel a bit better.

I’d go if I were a local, but there’s no way I’m spending money on flying over there for a trip this year!

June 1, 2020 at 3:46 pm #134481@acamm thanks for the report and pictures!! I likely still won;t be there any time this year but if I lived closed I would have to try it. like you and @bexruns both say, just to hear the music and be “in the presence” would make me feel good, I could get over the mask wearing (I am getting used to it up here better than I thought I would) to get that Disney “fix”
