Yeah, for me it just looks like a cool and fun ride, the fact it’s Tron has little (make that nothing) to do with my looking forward to it ! It sort of reminds me of Test Track though.

When GM’s sponsorship of Test Track ended, I thought it might become a TRON ride
April 11, 2017 at 7:08 pm #22008Tron? Really? Who鈥檚 seen either Tron movie? Just another unoriginal idea from Disney. Maybe the should just convert the cars to electric ones. So sad to see Another Disney classic being replaced by something from a B movie.
I’ve seen both movies and love them. Pretty sure both did very well at the box office, I wouldn’t call it a B-movie. I actually think what they did with it over in Shanghai looked pretty amazing, you should check it out! Even if you don’t love a movie franchise, I think to an extent you can get on board with a ride if it’s done well. I don’t care to ever see Avatar again but I’m still going to check out Pandora, it looks awesome!
They did re-theme Autopia over at Disneyland so maybe change is coming, Tron or otherwise. It’s just a rumor at this point
April 14, 2017 at 1:45 pm #22513Here is one ride that would actually fit well in Epcot. There is a serious tech-connection, I say plop that in Future World, and update the Speedway or put a more uniquely MK attraction in it’s place.

You’re right! Very futuristic!

As much as I’d hate to lose UOE, that would be a good fit real estate wise, could be a smart replacement for the loss of Innoventions, with an energy-themed attraction taking over the more central real estate. So Tron and SSE could somehow be linked with a new UOE attraction in the old Innoventions space. If that jumbled idea makes a lick of sense :p
April 14, 2017 at 2:25 pm #22516As much as I鈥檇 hate to lose UOE,
One of the things we loved about EPCOT was the 20 min dark rides.
A ride where you could get some rest and be entertained.
We have lost most of those only to be replaced by the 4 min thrill rides.
I’ve always felt that the longer dark rides distinguished WDW from the Universals and Six Flags of the world.
(And I’m not equating Universal with Six Flags)
I’d rather spend more time on a ride and less in a queueueueueueueuee.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/ridelength.htmI’m with you 100%… But, if I had to choose between something like GotG that has virtually no tie-in to the parks roots, or living with a thrill ride that could at least have a pre-show and pav that supports an edu-tainment aspect, sign me up for the latter.
April 15, 2017 at 4:22 pm #22586As a tech geek….I like the TRON movies and it sounds like they are reconsidering a third. Walt Disney never wanted the parks to become museums. We have so many pics and memories too @stupidjudy. Disney rarely (or ever) let’s us down when we see nostalgic experiences go away. The actual footprint for this is quite large and would potentially eat into a cast member parking lot.

You’re so right. The Tron ride DOES remind me of Test Track 2.0!!

Isn’t that the point of Tomorrowland too? There’s not much of a vision of tomorrow when you’re driving stinky gas powered cars. I wish they would update the Speedway, if they want to shove some IP in there it would be pretty easy to do a Wreck It Ralph overlay.
And although I’ve never seen Tron, that ride looks amazing! I try to remind myself that just because I don’t care about the IP (Splash Mountain :p ) doesn’t mean it can’t make for an amazing attraction

That’s a good idea!

Ive seen the movies. I enjoyed them. Tron is like Newsies, it didnt make it big but has a cult following. The ride looks cool, but the speedway is a classic ride. Not sure that is what i would target. I could see the ride at the Studios.
April 19, 2017 at 1:09 pm #23058I agree
April 19, 2017 at 1:22 pm #23060Less coasters and more family friendly rides.
Don’t take a family favorite and classic attraction away for a 3 min coaster ride with limited ridership due to height and health restrictions.
And while I’m at it, “Stay off my yard!”
