@cammelot Did you see this??June 28, 2018 at 9:15 am #81308A blogger I follow on Instagram went to a preview of Toy Story Land yesterday and had a few things to say:
1. Slinky dog is fun and they rode it 2x… family friendly
2. Be prepared to be HOT…. and they suggested bringing a handheld fan because the queues are all outdoors with little to zero SHADE
3. Eat before you go into that land or carry snacks and drinks with you from elsewhere in the park because with only 1 quick service walk up window….. It’s gonna be super long lines
4. The themeing is really terrific and immersiveJune 28, 2018 at 9:24 am #81312ugh…no shade?? seriously? i thought they were doing all this work to add shade to rides like the carousel and dumbo and then HERE they mess up? that park is already blistering hot with all the cement and lack of trees. also only one counter service is a big mistake. they should add an Al’s Toy Barn with snacks inside (thinking like the big top in MK)
June 28, 2018 at 9:30 am #81313I think my boys would absolutely love Toy Story land. They love all things Toy Story. But no shade??? seriously? My littlest is a ghost and burns like a fried egg, and my oldest with his heart condition cannot be in the heat and sun that long. It drives me crazy that they don’t think of this? I mean, come on. If it’s too hard to plant a real tree, then at least build us a giant umbrella.
Does anyone else think the Lorax needs to make a visit to Imagineering?
June 28, 2018 at 10:29 am #81318That’s disappointing. Isn’t it set in Andy’s backyard? They could totally add shade like plants and blades of grass kinda like they did with A Bug’s Land at DCA and the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. That would provide shade and keep the theming if they don’t want to add real trees, although they should add real trees. How strange that they either didn’t think of that or just didn’t want to do it.
June 28, 2018 at 10:43 am #81322geez – no idea why they would make everyone wait outside with no shade!!! i have a redhead and that sounds like a nightmare. I would probably bring an umbrella.
June 28, 2018 at 11:08 am #81325June 28, 2018 at 11:09 am #81326It worked!! See my previous post with their actual comments
June 28, 2018 at 11:41 am #81327No shade?! I bet that changes in the first rehab they do. And I bet it doesn’t take long for snack and drink carts to show up in the land to help alleviate food/drink lines at the one place to eat. In fact, I bet drink carts show up IN THE LINE for Slinky Dog Dash since no shade. They will make a killing on waters and sodas.

That’s what they do at Universal for Halloween Horror Nights. The queues are all outdoors so they have food and beverage carts around the park, as well as in the queue.
