I have just one question, if you two split, who gets us? oh the trauma…….
You’re stuck with me. Don’t worry, there will not be any splitting up. I am also from NJ and have enjoyed the likes of real Italian food. Let me just say that for Italian food in central Florida, Mama Melrose is not bad.
April 27, 2017 at 1:10 pm #24424@steve I would agree with you there for sure. I’ve only been there once, but I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely go back.
April 27, 2017 at 1:12 pm #24425I have to disagree with my hubby..
Uh Oh, do we need Dr Phil!

April 27, 2017 at 1:17 pm #24426Every year we try to eat a restaurant we haven’t been to before. We have had some good experiences and a couple bad one. We did not like Boma at all, but it gets very good reviews. They used some spice that we just did not like. We are thinking of trying a restaurant and the Contemporary next time. Any suggestions?

Steve and Chelle are our power couple

And they’re outnumbered three to two. They HAVE to stick together!

Ahhh, geee, We love you mom and dad!
April 27, 2017 at 3:30 pm #24442This will be a great go-to thread when my next trip rolls around! I like the idea of trying new places and hearing what others thought of it.
A few of my faves over the years and like you mentioned, it depends on your palate and preferences!
Resorts:
Boma dinner- always good and bonus the resort is amazing to explore.
Kona Cafe breakfast – same reasons as above.
Beaches and Cream – I only had the No Way Jose and will definitely go back there and have another!
Ohana dinner – so good, so much food.
Epcot:
Nine Dragons – tasty Chinese food, but I haven’t been there in years and I think they changed the menu since.
Cellier – expensive but everything is delicious
Teppan Edo – we don’t have tons of those restaurants here so that’s a fun thing to experience.
Animal Kingdom
Yak and Yeti
Tusker House
I don’t have any favorites at the other two parks.

Magic Kingdom is my least favorite park for table service :|

I know right? I have to say I haven’t tried Be Our Guest lunch or dinner so I can’t say yet! Breakfast was ok but not on my must do again list.
April 28, 2017 at 3:09 am #24499@nascfan Sci Fi …. I love the restaurant… just not the food <span class=”lightbox-hover” style=”opacity: 0;”></span>
I understand it’s that way for a fair number of people. We’ve just been never anything less than highly satisfied. Are we lucky? Maybe so, I don’t know.
@nascfan Same thing for us! Never disappointed! We loooovvveee it!April 28, 2017 at 5:38 am #24503Many of my pics will overlap what others have said, and I may have some outside opinions as well, but here it goes:
Magic Kingdom …Choose elsewhere… I have not tried Skippers Canteen yet, so that may be the only hope for a decent TS in the park. Too many better choices at surrounding resorts, and all of my in-park TS experiences have been ‘ok’ at best.
Epcot
Here is the jackpot, IMO. So many good options (so many I have yet to try as well)
Coral Reef– I know there are mixed reviews of this place, but it has been a home run for us. Very good food (seafood & steak), great ambiance, consistent service.
Garden Grill– Dinner or breakfast, can’t go wrong. Good food, great character interaction, and your restaurant rotates through a ride! How cool is that?
LeCellier– Great food, great service, every time.
Restaurant Akershus– Had dinner there once, and it was amazing… Princess breakfast however, not pleased with (more of a service & character disappointment than anything)
Biergarten A nice surprise, must like sausages/meats to really enjoy the food. Not a top choice, but would not steer you clear of it either.
Avoid San Angel Inn the atmosphere is awesome, and still couldn’t salvage it from one of my 5 worst dining experiences… Still can’t bring myself to give it another try.
Hollywood Studios
Mama Melroses We really enjoy the food and ambiance here. I know it has been mentioned, but the vodka sauce My family really enjoyed the steak and pork last trip as well.
Hollywood & Vine The only character breakfast beside Garden Grill I’ve enjoyed (sorry ‘Ohana fans :| , not sorry Chef Mickey’s :hmmph: ) Food was very good, great selection, and the characters actually spent time at the tables.
Sci-Fi Dine-in– A pleasant surprise last trip, was hesitant with so many mixed reviews. Burgers were on-point, the restaurant is so cool to dine in, and the service was excellent. I enjoyed my burger here better than the one from GF Cafe.
50’s Prime Time Has had a bit of a fall from grace, in our family, and from many reviews it seems we are not alone… That being said, the food is still good (but not great), and if you are lucky to catch the right server can be fun. I wouldn’t rule it out, but not a top pick for us anymore.
Animal Kingdom Have never eaten at a TS here… Always head to Boma after the park.I think I posted my places to avoid elsewhere, but can repost here if it could be helpful for you… Enjoy your Disney Dining experience! It is one of our favorite parts of visiting the ‘World

Yes!
April 28, 2017 at 8:44 am #24555Here’s my quick reviews of the places I’ve tried several times:
Magic Kingdom:
Be Our Guest for dinner only…the lunch experience isn’t so great.
Crystal Palace, very good food, great character interaction
Cinderella’s: not worth the price tag, forgettable food
Tony’s: It’s not the best Italian on Earth but it’s not horrible either. I like the atmosphere so I chose this one about every other trip
Liberty Tree: Always had good food but they took the pot roast off of the menu and that was what they were known for. Not crazy about the generic and plain tasting Thanksgiving feast that they push now.
The Plaza (for some reason that doesn’t sound like the name) Very good food and surprisingly lower cost than expected.
Overall Winner: Be Our GuestAnimal Kingdom:
Rainforest Cafe, this one gets very mixed reviews but I have never had a bad meal there and the prices aren’t too bad, very cool atmosphere. worth seeing once
Yak and Yeti, very basic chinese food….if you have great Chinese near you, you won’t be impressed with this dumbed down version. Very standard flavors IMO
Tusker House: One of my favorite choices for this park. Lots of unique items to choose from.
Overall Winner: Tusker HouseEpcot:
Garden Grill, absolutely worth it. Great food, great character interaction.
Le Cellier, very good food, pricey, think Ruth’s Chris. Worth it to me.
Rose and Crown, never had a bad meal there, absolutely worth trying to get a ressie around 8:15 so you can be there for the fireworks
France…can’t think of the name right now but the main restaurant, tried several times and have never had a good meal here. The last time I ate there I got the short ribs and it tasted EXACTLY like a Lean Cuisine. I’ve eaten those all my life so if I sat and thought about it I could tell you exactly which one it was lol. The lobster bisque is wonderful but other than that blah!
Teppan Edo is a pass for me. We have a very good japanese steak house here so this one was a huge disappointment. Even our fast food japanese tops this obvious theme park version.
Via Napoli, tried it twice and haven’t been happy. Soggy pizza….I can get that anywhere.
Morocco, fun and different. Always happy with my food
Germany forget the name….really neat and fun atmosphere but forgettable food. Worth trying once though
Akershus my least favorite character meal. Forgettable food. It used to be good but unless you really want to see the princesses…skip it.
Nine Dragons, worst meal I’ve ever had on property hands down
La Hacienda just not good
San Angel Inn One of my favorites, best atmosphere in the park. Try the pollo ala rajas!
Coral Reef very very noisy, very lame food
Overall Winner Garden GrillDHS
50’s Prime Time Cafe hit or miss on getting a good server but the food is very good. It’s a must do even though I have bad luck with server interaction
Brown Derby Pricey but usually pretty darn good
Sci Fi, best atmosphere, never get great food here and service is hit or miss
Mama Melroses, good food, nothing special
Overall Winner: 50’s Prime Time hands downGood Luck! You’ll be able to create your own list after 21 days! Like someone else mentioned, at least one sit down meal a day is a must do for me. So nice to be able to sit down and relax for a while. I’ve never been rushed through a meal like you would think they would do in a theme park. If anything, it takes much longer than one would expect.
April 28, 2017 at 9:29 am #24566I would second Yak & Yeti in AK. I thought the food was outstanding!
