Disney was my first and only cruising experience, and I’m almost afraid to try another cruise line.
That’s a legitimate concern. It didn’t even cross my mind when we tried another cruise line but I was disappointed with the cruise experience. We had an incredible time in port and it was a great means to an end to see a lot of new places, but the cruise itself was very meh and I wouldn’t do it again.
Don’t be afraid of other liners, i’ve sailed with P&O, Celebrity, Costa, Norwegian & Thompsons. with a couple of rare exceptions it was all good
Good to hear.

The ship is sectional so you can minimize kids impact if this is a problem. Theater, Movies, Nightclubs, Special Events. Castaway Cay is like the ship. You can be in adult only area, or mixed.
I believe minimum, 4 days. If you can at all afford the time and money, I suggest 6 days at WDW followed by a 4-7 day cruise. The parks exhaust you, the cruise rejuvenates you.I have to disagree with you on cruising last and here is why… disembarkation day… although Disney has this down pretty good, it is still stressful. My wife and I prefer to do the parks after a cruise. As everyone is going home, we are tagging our bags to go to the resorts. To each his/her own
Interesting perspective. I didnt jones about disembarkation day at all. We didnt have all that many bags either. I guess if you travel with a lot of stuff, this could be stressful. I liked the fact that after running around for 6 days in parks trying to meet fast passes, meals, dealing with buses etc, the relaxation of the ship was cathartic. I always need a vacation from my vacation when I go to the parks because I am always going.

did a Norwegian cruise about 14 years ago. just me and the hubby and it was nice but nothing special in my mind. leave in 26 days for my Disney Alaskan cruise with the entire family. We are going to spend the big bucks and hopefully have a vacation that the kiddos will never forget!

We don’t pack much so that isn’t the issue…. we always have an early flight home, so it’s early wake up, wait in line to disembark, go through customs and find our bus… leaving WDW is a little easier

June 25, 2019 at 7:31 pm #112725I would just like to remind ALL of you cruisers that I book all cruise lines (Except Carnival – please don’t cruise Carnival lol).
July 12, 2019 at 9:08 am #113274I have done 2 Disney cruises, Wonder and the Dream. I have also cruised on Royal Caribbean and Carnival and my opinion Disney is superior. The ship and cabins have a different feel to them. The food was incredible as well as the service. Both times I cruised Disney was with my son, but just booked May 2020 for my fiance and I and I have no qualms of travelling on Disney Cruises without children.
While I did not have any bad experiences on the other cruise lines, I enjoyed Disney so much more.July 12, 2019 at 9:50 am #113278While I did not have any bad experiences on the other cruise lines, I enjoyed Disney so much more.
That’s been my experience too. Disney was way better and I enjoyed that more. I would say you get what you pay for. Had I not been on a Disney Cruise before my non-Disney cruise, I never would have known any different.
July 12, 2019 at 10:22 am #113282There is something to be said about your servers knowing you and your likes. They would bring us drinks before we asked for them (Anju figured out quickly i liked a nice cup of coffee after dinner). In fact my kids were sad the two nights Kirsty was sick because we had to have “other” servers. The person who cleans your statesroom is also amazing! She made sure to say “hi” to us every day and knew all our names. She did a great job and always did something special with the blanket at the end of our bed and “organized” my kids’ blankets or stuffed animals. Completely different than my previous experience. The ship was spotless, the decor was beautiful and the little Disney touches were so nice (as was the constant Disney music playing). There was plenty to do for adults…adult only sections, adult only games and shows at night in the bars…I would totally go again without the kids.

You hit every highlight! Can’t say enough positive about DCL… especially the food options… they are the best and we have been on a few different cruise lines
I want to do one of the Star Wars cruises to see the characters and the music that would be played throughout the ship… it would be epic!
