I haven’t run for awhile but I have been biking to work. I do appreciate the strong legs that running gave me! The next training group starts on June 21st – I’ll have to join because I know it doesn’t happen without the group!
That is quite alright! You are keeping fitness up, so a return to running will be easy(er) and you are working your legs differently, which helps prevent overuse injury or plateau… Ride on!
June 7, 2017 at 7:13 am #31753Great job!

And I am so jealous of the 13 feet in elevation change – I wish I could find a run that flat around here!!!
June 7, 2017 at 8:33 am #31794June 7, 2017 at 9:55 am #31809Today is Global Running Day ya’ll so get out there and do your thing!
In the past week, I ran 3 miles Friday morning, did a mile Saturday in Vegas, 3 on Sunday and walked a mile Mon and yesterday. Today I was back on the grind and did my standard 3. End of July the pace starts picking up as I head full force into marathon training.
June 7, 2017 at 11:32 am #31866June 7, 2017 at 1:13 pm #31968So I’m a slacker runner and had no clue it was Global Running Day! We got up and did Asylum Strength and had Gumby arms and legs when we were done! Walking the dog took extra effort! It was 47 minutes of weight work, push-ups and burpees!
June 7, 2017 at 1:22 pm #31974Gumby arms and legs! Great job!
June 7, 2017 at 1:35 pm #31979@nascfan Haha! Thanks!! Some people call them jello arms, I prefer Gumby!!
June 7, 2017 at 1:43 pm #31981@kcboston You go Glenn Coco! that is hard and I couldn’t do that much right now :'( tell me, do you just do what it says or do you repeat weeks if it moves along too quickly? I’m supposed to be doing something more intense this week on my program (week 3) but I’m still finding 1.5 miles of 1 min run/2 min walk (week 1) difficult! :|
June 7, 2017 at 1:44 pm #31982@eeyorepoohfan Way to go on your run in almost 80* heat! And your crazy weights, push-ups and burpees workout!
June 7, 2017 at 1:47 pm #31984Today I did 1 mile run/walk again in 14:38. I was not amused by the guy who decided to let his dog off-leash at the track :hmmph: it ran up to me and was jumping at my legs in front of me so I had to stop mid-run to avoid kicking it. The guy came over and leashed the dog and apologized but it still made me mad. We have leash laws, it shouldn’t have been off-leash in the first place and I have a very small window to run in the mornings before work, I don’t appreciate being interrupted like that!
Then at lunch I did 20 minutes on the bike at the gym for some cross-training. Disappointed though that the Fitbit doesn’t count that as steps :p

@starbee So far I’ve been able to do what it says, this is the first week that I felt like I might not be able to finish it. I am about 2 weeks “behind” since I’ve either been away or too busy on the weekends, so I’m averaging two runs per week. If I get to a point where I feel like I’m not ready, then I’m going to repeat a week. I might have to repeat this week, because jumping from 1.5 and 3 minute runs with equal walking time, up to 3 and 5 minute runs with only half the walking time, that has been a rough adjustment!June 7, 2017 at 2:06 pm #31994Today I did 1 mile run/walk again in 14:38. So frustrating with the dog, but way to go on getting it done!

@kcboston That’s why I ended up doing my own thing on the last Couch to 5K plan I tried in prep for my 5k last year. All of a sudden the jump seemed huge and I couldn’t do it. It’s frustrating though, I’m trying so hard! I’m running 3 times a week, walking 30 minutes on the days I don’t run and still I’m 2 weeks behind on my program :| it’s entirely my lungs, my legs don’t even feel it but I can’t catch my breathJune 7, 2017 at 2:18 pm #32002Way to go ladies! Remember, no matter how slow or hard it is, you’re lapping everyone on the couch!
