Received an email that my half in November is cancelled. Well, in person is cancelled. I could choose to do it virtual, credit the purchase toward a future race, or request a refund.
Gonna do the virtual
Not as exciting, but I’ll still get the box of goodies mailed to my house
August 26, 2020 at 4:35 pm #139234I’m sorry it went virtual @missingwdw. Although not surprised. Virtuals suck. But I’m glad you’ll still get goodies! We’ll certainly cheer you on from here!

September 8, 2020 at 9:38 am #139560Way to go @10dedfish! You are doing great getting back into it! Keep up the awesome work!
September 9, 2020 at 7:38 am #139604Thanks @Nascfan.
Double update today. Yesterday was 3×20 pushups, 3×15 squats, 3×5 ab roller, 3×3 pull ups, 3×5 chin ups. Today was a run, 3.3 miles at a 14:44 pace. Temps were 75, Humidity was 97%.
September 9, 2020 at 11:23 am #139615@10dedfish hey! Yes, I am still running. Not as fast or as long as I was, but I’m slowly getting back to it. School started and we’re 100% virtual although I’m going into the building each day to teach. It’s exhausting. And super stressful. A friend of mine, who is a classroom teacher, just came in the gym and started crying. It’s just so hard on everyone, the families, the kids, the teachers. It’s seriously a nightmare, and I loathe it. Honestly running has been my saving grace. THANK GOD I RUN. It’s so therapeutic for me. I’m out early in the morning before work, before sunrise, it’s QUIET, dark, and cooler temps….although that freakin humidity needs to stop already. I can run and just let so much stress out, ya know? I only wish I hadn’t had so many issues earlier in the year, because I’m running like 3 miles now but mentally I need more. I need to be out there for an hour or so. That would do me a world of good, but my body just isn’t strong enough yet. Frustrating.
My half in April was cancelled and rescheduled for November. I doubt I’ll be ready by then, because I just don’t want to risk any more injuries training too fast. Not that it would even be fast training, but I don’t heal like I used to so I’m really easing back into adding distance. The good thing is I have until December to get the run done, so I’ll definitely be able to do that. Besides, it’ll be cold by then LOVE running in the winter
Glad to see you’re running. Hadn’t heard from you in a while on here and I was wondering how you were doing.
I’ll tell ya, after how this entire covid thing rocked the world, I’m really want to do a race with all the dcot runners/walkers on here. This thread, and everyone that was on here, really started my running and kept me inspired. Doing a race with everyone would be a-maz-ing
September 9, 2020 at 11:27 am #139616I haven’t been able to run as much as I’d like every week, but I’m at least getting once to twice in. I would like to get my endurance up so I can run farther distance. As it is, I’m running (what most people would probably call a good jog – 4.0/4.5mph) in about 14.5 minutes. But I can only keep that up for about a mile and a quarter. Then I need to go to a fast walk (about 3.0mph) until I get my breath back. (usually about 1/2 mile). Then I run again for about 15 more minutes. Which is a slower pace because I’m tired at that point. So that second running mile is in about 15.5/16.0 minutes. Then I’m toast and just walk another 1/2 mile.
I know it will take time to get back up to snuff, but I’m a bit frustrated with myself that I can’t get much past that first mile without having to catch my breath.
But, I did just start running again about a month ago. So crossing my fingers I can get there soon.
I’m still doing my HIIT class 4 days a week so I’m also getting that in every week. Bright an early! (although it ain’t so bright at 5:00 a.m. anymore – nor warm… )September 9, 2020 at 11:27 am #139617@missingwdw
Wow, didnt know you were injured! hope you heal up with no issues!
Yeah I went silent for a few months, I was working all the time and got fed up with my old job; so I quit. I have a new job (started 7/20) and work from home. I do 1/10th the work I used to it and I am feeling much better stress wise.
I want to get back to the point where I can do a half, and would also love to run with everyone here as well!
How far away from Cherry Point are you?Give all your teacher friends hugs from me. My neighbor and good friend is the local elementary principal and I hear how tough it is from here. You guys have my vote for awesomeness!

You go!It takes a while to build up the endurance, but you will get there! I’m going slow myself, I talked my neighbor into running with me and he not so much in shape lol
September 9, 2020 at 11:37 am #139620@10dedfish Thanks!
September 9, 2020 at 9:02 pm #139870Awesome cross training @10dedfish!
@missingwdw I’m so glad you can get out and run again! I wish you could go longer for your sake too, but don’t want you injured again! If we go back after the go-around we’d love to do a race weekend with you!
@sarahjo37 don’t sell yourself short! You are doing fantastic! Keep up the good work, slow and steady progress! -
