@nascfan, that’s what I was thinking… ease up to even run/walk intervals and use in-between time wisely: fueling, hydrating, resting and just generally taking it easy. Boy, sounds like a rough way to spend a Saturday. Yeah, we’ll see. I’m still not entirely sure it’s the best idea I’ve ever had but I’m pretty certain it’s not the worst idea either.
February 24, 2020 at 4:57 pm #126018@connie96 I can think of worse ways! I think we can be fairly confident it’s not the worst idea you’ve had!
February 26, 2020 at 6:03 pm #126214@connie96 you can definitely do both 5K’s in one day!
Just have fun!
February 27, 2020 at 9:13 am #126240@nascfan @missingWDW Thanks, y’all. I’m still only signed up for the one at this point. I’m going to wait and see how I feel about the other as it gets closer.
February 27, 2020 at 10:17 am #126256I’m pretty sure @breesmommy5 did two in a row like that last year. If I recall correctly she didn’t realize they were so close together when she signed up. I think there was one in the evening and the second the following morning

March 3, 2020 at 1:28 pm #126520Yesterday I got out for my first run since the Dopey Challenge! I ran the home track, which was like finding my footing all over again I stumbled once or twice but didn’t fall. I ran as far as my muscles were willing to go, which wasn’t that much. My left calf muscle started acting up, so I quit so as to avoid a pulled muscle.

13’15″/mileIt’s no secret life has been crazy since Dopey. Christy got the Flu, we had multiple church-related events to tend to including a weekend camping trip (in a cabin), then I got Strep and finally came off the antibiotics last Friday early morning. On top of everything else, my parents are having their house built which I am actively helping with parts of that process and we’re fixing up our own home in places. I mention all this as the reasoning for my not-so-ambitious goals (compared to Dopey). In the near term, I hope to work back up to running at least 5K every week; twice per week if time and fitness permits. April 2021 I plan to run the Star Wars races at WDW (not sure Christy will run them with me, but she’s likely to at least be there to watch). So as I get closer to that date, I’ll be upping my weekly distance.
March 3, 2020 at 2:13 pm #126526@rocketear99 As whacky crazy as everything has been for you including recovery and sickness, I’m surprised you did that well! That really is a great job! The beauty of planning Star Wars 2021 is it gives all of us plenty of time to plan and train for any race(s) that we plan to do! If you do the Half and Christy doesn’t, we’ll keep her company spectating! This is seriously going to be an awesome time, I think we’re going to have a great D-Cot turnout!
March 3, 2020 at 2:56 pm #126532@nascfan As with Dopey, I plan on doing all 3 races because I’m nuts like that
March 3, 2020 at 4:01 pm #126537@rocketear99 you definitely are! I will likely do the 5k with my wife and daughter and hopefully all of these folks: @warrsm and @kcboston and @breesmommy5 and @ccoop73 and then I’ll probably do the 10k with my son-in-law, you, and and whoever else wants to. Oh and I hope @monkcline can do the 10k with me too! I’m hoping @abeach can come too! I’ll leave the long distance to you folks. My son-in-law will be doing the Half and I’m sure @eeyorepoohfan and Ryan will also. I’m much better at cheering for Halfs!
March 3, 2020 at 4:22 pm #126538Yikes! I didn’t know the D-COT crowd had grown to that size! That’s AMAZING!
March 3, 2020 at 4:23 pm #126539I’m hopeful!
March 4, 2020 at 7:46 am #126542@Nascfan you know I want to sooooooo bad (heck, if I wasn’t away I would have strongly considered a Wine and Dine this year!)
I haven’t posted in here in a while because I haven’t been able to run for 2 months . I had been on and off with the running, and I started again in December and was making some really great progress and feeling good, and my hip started hurting. Didn’t think it was a big deal, maybe I needed to stretch a little more before and after, so I pushed through. Then the pain was so bad that I had to stop after 2 miles. Tried again another day, had to stop after 1 mile. Gave it 3 days rest, and had to stop after a 1/2 mile.
So long story short, I’ve been seeing a chiropractor/physical therapist since mid-January. I’m not in constant, excruciating pain anymore, but I’m not at the point where I can run either. So fingers crossed for a full recovery soon, so I can start training for 2021!
March 4, 2020 at 8:12 am #126544@kcboston I’m glad you are making progress. Let yourself heal, keep going to the doc, and give it plenty of time. We have a little over a year, nothing to worry about as far as that goes! I really, really hope you can be there! Even on the off chance you couldn’t race, would love for you to just be there with us! But I think you are going to be well enough, I really do. You’re playing it smart.
