    The actress who is BEST known as Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter franchise, as well as the popular series Downton Abbey, has passed away at the age of 89.

    She was a Tony, Emmy, and Oscar winner.

    Her Disney connection was being in the Whoopi Goldberg comedies Sister Act and Sister Act 2.

    Professor McGonagall was always my favorite of the adult characters in the books and Maggie Smith’s portrayl in the movies cemented it. In the last movie when she brings the statues to life to help protect the school and then exciting says “I’ve always wanted to use that spell” is one of my favorite (if not my #1 favorite) line deliveries in any movie. Rest in Peace Dame Smith. Thank you for everything
