Alright I need a few ideas for meals outside the parks. On our non park days it would be fun to check out resorts so what restaurants should my family of five (kids 7, 11 and 15) try?
February 13, 2017 at 11:43 pm #13312AnonymousInactiveXPWe love ‘Ohana, Whispering Canyon Cafe, and Kona Cafe. They have great breakfast and dinner. Also, the Hoop Dee Doo Revue is a must if y’all haven’t done it before!
February 14, 2017 at 8:13 am #13318oh we’ve done Hoop Dee Doo…that was a great evening!
February 14, 2017 at 8:23 am #13319I second all of @mr-tommorrow ‘s suggestions and I’ll also add Beaches & Cream at Beach Club and, if your family doesn’t mind food that’s more international, Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Resort – Kidani Village.
February 14, 2017 at 8:25 am #13323I’ll second everything @Mr.TomMorrow said, we enjoy all three of those restaurants. I’ve only been to Whispering Canyon for breakfast because I love their banana bread french toast.
Have you been to Trail’s End Buffet? It has all the favorites from Hoop Dee Doo (fried chicken and ribs) and a ton more, for much, much cheaper. My all time favorite resort restaurant is Sanaa, the bread service alone is worth the trip. It’s a great place to explore with the animals and the resort itself it beautiful. Beaches and Cream is another place our family likes to go, the food isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s a fun setting that feels very Disney to me. And it’s a great excuse to walk around the Beach Club and enjoy that resort.

February 14, 2017 at 8:28 am #13326@rocketear99 That is too funny that we recommended the same places!
February 14, 2017 at 8:30 am #13329Thanks guys!! What about anything Boardwalk related? i thought it would be fun to head over there too…
February 14, 2017 at 9:08 am #13351We had dinner at Trattoria al Forno one night and the atmosphere was nice and the food pretty good, however, It’s not on our must do list.
We do enjoy strolling along the Boardwalk and taking in all the excitement there.
February 14, 2017 at 9:09 am #13352I used to love cat cora’s joint over there! But the put that new italian place there now. Tratoria il forna I think. It was just ok. Big river is fun plus they have a very good beer selection. Anything else over there is out of my league I think. But either place at the Poly is highly recomended and the trails end buffet. Plus the whispering canyon.
February 14, 2017 at 10:29 am #13422I’ll throw my lot in for Boardwalk places. We’ve eaten at Flying Fish (which is Signature), Big River Grill, and Trattoria al Forno.
Flying Fish was OK, but I prefer pretty much any signature I’ve eaten thus far to that one (food was good, service was lack luster for us ).
Big River Grill was rather good. Might revisit if I stay at Boardwalk again. Liked the micro brews. Food was decent. Service was good.
Trattoria al Forno was very nice. Food was excellent (even according to my Jersey born and raised wife which is high praise ). Service was also excellent. It’s just that at the end of the day, when I’m looking for Disney go-to’s I’m looking for not just good food and service, but also fun atmosphere and when it comes to atmosphere, I didn’t think any of those restaurants quite did it for me.
February 14, 2017 at 10:35 am #13427Besides getting ice cream at Ample Hills or something quick at the Boardwalk Bakery, the restaurants there don’t appeal to me as much as some others in the area. If you’re not on the dining plan and are looking for a splurge, I’d head over to the Dolphin. Shula’s and Bluezoo have been two of the best meals I’ve had on property.
February 15, 2017 at 12:01 pm #13635I suggest Whispering Canyon. Loads of fun and a GREAT resort to tour at the Wilderness Lodge. We sometimes take the boat around the lake just for the tour.
February 15, 2017 at 2:55 pm #13698I don’t get over to the Boardwalk much, it’s not my favorite, but I did really enjoy Flying Fish.
My resort favorites are Olivia’s Cafe (Old Key West) and Artist Point (Wilderness Lodge) but the latter can be kinda pricey, it’s a signature.
February 21, 2017 at 3:43 pm #14670Trails End at Fort Wilderness!
