@nancyg that looks amazing! however my family does not like mushrooms (party poopers) and unless it is cheddar, mozzarella or something that comes pre-shredded in a bag from Kraft, i don’t buy it. cooking takes enough time without shredding my own darn cheese!!!
Too funny! I only made it for book club – there was a scene in the book where the guy made her fancy mac and cheese.
March 7, 2017 at 3:17 pm #16571I hear tell that’s the state where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. Really that’s all I knew was in Oklahoma before today.

Our wind is no joke! Most people can’t even find Oklahoma on a map but I’m very proud to be Oklahoman! We gave the world other great things too: One Republic, Kings of Leon, Olivia Munn, Bill Hader, Will Rogers, James Marsden, on some days we claim Brad Pitt, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, the list goes on…
March 7, 2017 at 3:51 pm #16587I’m from the land of Iowa…with Brandon Routh and Ashton Kutcher and…oh my we are a pathetic little middle state.
March 7, 2017 at 3:58 pm #16589Back to recipes – this one is awesome for those crock pot people
Tortellini Sausage soup
In crockpot put:
2 14.5 ounce UNdrained cans of diced tomatoes with basil, oregano and garlic
2 14 ounce cans of chicken broth
12 ounces of cooked sausage (i use the precooked stuff and cut in rounds)
2 cans of white navy beans
1 large onion cut into wedges
1/2 cup water
and 2 cloves minced garlic
cook for 8+ hours on low heat (or 4+ hours on high)
turn to high heat and add a 9 ounce package of tortellini and cook until they are tender
sprinkle with shredded parm or basil if you want
FABOO and super easyMarch 9, 2017 at 2:34 pm #16839Just checking in here to say @nancyg, I may be trying that recipe of yours tonight!
@jamiedawn27 – We’ve made Tortellini Sausage Soup in a crockpot before! It’s a real winner!@ all your states’ claim to fame – We in Maryland can proudly claim Dr. Ben Carson, Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken, Jr. (well actually all the Ripkens), Mike Rowe, Harriet Tubman, Francis Scott Key (hello Star Spangled Banner), Tom Clancy, Michael Phelps, Sean Murray (NCIS, JAG, and Hocus Pocus), Hans Conreid and Judy Kuhn (for all you Disney fans!)
Some days we like to claim David Hasslehoff
Unfortunately we also have to claim John Wilkes Booth, and doubly unfortunately, he’s a distant cousin of mine.

March 9, 2017 at 3:35 pm #16849This is one of our favorite recipes. It’s super easy & really tasty.
1 Roast
2 beers
3 packs of Italian dressing mix
1 16 oz jar of sliced peperoncinisCombine all the ingredients into a crock pot and cook on low for 8 hours. I pour the juice in the peperoncini jar in the crock pot as well. I know people who have served the roast with sides. I prefer to put the roast and peperoncinis on a hoagie bun with pepper jack cheese and broil it in the oven. Enjoy!

March 9, 2017 at 4:00 pm #16853Maryland Crab Dip (it’s expensive but oh so good if you like blue crab)
Ingredients:
1 lb of Maryland or Louisiana Lump Crab Meat (can use foreign blue crab, but it won’t be the same taste or quality)
Old Bay Seasoning (accept no substitutes)
1 bag of shredded cheddar cheese
8oz Cream Cheese (feel free to use light or regular)
1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soupDirections:
Pre-heat oven to 350.
Soften cream cheese and combine with cream of mushroom soup (do not add water). Heat using stovetop or microwave, stirring occasionally until warm throughout.
Add Old Bay Seasoning gradually and mix in until soup/cream cheese combo begins to turn very pale pinkish color.
Mix in crab meat and about 1/2 Cup of cheese (or more if desired).
Heat again and stir occasionally until it just becomes hot throughout (you do not want to overheat crab meat or it will shrink in size and not taste as good)
Once heated throughout, place in glass or ceramic casserole and spread evenly. Cover top with shredded cheddar cheese and bake at 350 until cheese is melted. (about 5 minutes)
Sprinkle more Old Bay over the top when done.
Keep warm with a warming tray if available, serve with fresh cut baguette or crackers.March 9, 2017 at 6:49 pm #16861And @nancyg The bacon pasta tastes AMAZING!
