Wednesday November 4th:
3am alarm. Out the door just after 4am. To the airport at 5am. This is our first time traveling and flying during Covid. There was virtually no line to check in bags at Southwest and at TSA. We were through very quickly! Sadly most restaurants and shops in the airport, including Starbucks and our normal burrito place are closed indefinitely with people traveling less during Covid. So we grabbed breakfast sandwiches, coffee for me and a pop for Ryan at Schlotzky’s. Our 7am flight was on time. We had a 2.5 hour layover in Dallas. We grabbed lunch. We left on time and landed about 10 minutes early into Orlando, around 3:45pm. Ryan didn’t tell me that Teri was going to surprise me at the airport. She was just as we left the secure area. Lots of hugs and tears. It was good to see her! She walked and talked with us as we went to get our luggage. Then to Alamo to get our rental car. Very minimal wait there too. This is our first time ever renting a car in Orlando! It was a smooth process! And Alamo is located right in the terminal. So we just walked outside to the parking structure and were told to pick any vehicle within a specific row, keys were in the cars. We had booked a mid-sized SUV and ended up with an Acadia. We chatted a little longer with Teri before she needed to head home. Ryan and I got on the road. We stopped at Target off Orange Blossom Trail. Then to CFA to get dinner to take to my folks house. We got to my parents apartment and had dinner with them. We visited for a couple of hours. We said goodbye to them because they were getting tired. We drove the tollway to Pop. My parents live about 15-20 minutes away. We got to Pop around 8pm. We had gotten our room text not long after landing. Turns out we were not only next to Scott and Kathy, but we had connecting rooms! Scott helped us lug all the groceries and our luggage up to our room. We unpacked and visited with our connecting door open. We chatted until around 10pm. Said goodnight. Then lights out for us around 11pm.

April 29, 2021 at 9:34 am #148257Aw man, no traditional breakfast burritos…that’s a bummer. But I’m glad the rest of the trip here was smooth sailing! And how awesome to see all your folks and be surprised by Teri! And oh man, that connecting room, that was just too perfect!!! Good travel day!
April 29, 2021 at 11:42 am #148270It was a total bummer! And they still aren’t open yet!! It makes me sad! It was a nice smooth sailing day and great to see everyone!
April 29, 2021 at 11:48 am #148274Dang! I was hoping they would be since it’s been a while
April 29, 2021 at 12:10 pm #148279I was hoping they would be too. But unfortunately our airport is small and several places haven’t re-opened. Some are completely cleared out. But that doesn’t mean they won’t be back. Starbucks had been completely cleared out and they were back open for our St. Augustine trip in January. But it makes me sad for the businesses.
