Disney Legend Marty Sklar passed away at age 83.
He helped design it’s a small world, the Enchanted Tiki Room, as well as Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Studios park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s California Adventure, Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea,and Hong Kong Disneyland. He also handled press releases for Walt to use on his TV show.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Sklar’s friends and family. :'(
July 28, 2017 at 5:35 am #41546Very sad news. He was a driving creative force in the company for many decades. :'(
July 28, 2017 at 5:51 am #41547This one hurts. It hurts bad. He was a direct line to Walt and Walt’s vision of the theme parks and the whole company really. One of the last direct ties to Walt. :'(

I couldn’t have said it any better.
When I read Kingdom Keepers, I picture the character ‘Wayne’ to be [like or inspired by] Marty. Disney and all who love it have lost someone and something that truly could never be replaced.

Me too! That is exactly the type of person I would picture him to be!

I loved hearing him talk about Walt. He contributed so much to the Disney experience. JMHO, his guidance was a major reason Disney was able to pick up after losing Walk
Marty, you will be missed
July 28, 2017 at 11:13 am #41655So sad. :'(
We’ve already got a thread going here: https://www.d-cot.com/topic/matry-sklar/ so I’m going to go ahead and close this one just to keep things in one place and neat and tidy, k?
I agree, he will be missed so much. So much of Walt’s vision was carried on by him. -
