I had an idea where if you tune into the YouTube Live stream I will give ‘xx’ points to the viewers. For example, if you tune in to the next stream, the following day you will see an activity posted to your account saying “steve gained 50 points for watching the YouTube Live Stream”. Is this something you would be interested in and do you think it will drive up the viewership to the channel? Thanks!

November 28, 2017 at 9:08 pm #57018My initial thoughts: meh. I’m not entirely sure that would be fair to folks who may be out west and possibly still at work. I know I wanted to watch it very badly but life got crazy, we had a rough night with giving Penelope a fluid treatment and then ness took over and before I knew it, it was over.
November 28, 2017 at 9:49 pm #57020After thinking it through a little bit longer, I’ve come to a conclusion.
Watching a D-Cot YouTube Livestream is a free way of supporting the website, just like using the website in general. It’s another form of supporter, it just doesn’t cost real money for some folks like the supporter status does on regular D-Cot. The Supporter Status comes with it’s own unique perks.
Does the live stream activity need perks? Not necessarily. I bet all the current Supporters on this website would support it anyways even without the perks, much like our current YouTube situation. And not everyone can make it to the stream, like @nascfan pointed out. Life happens and sometimes it can get to hectic.
To each their own
November 29, 2017 at 7:50 am #57032Of course I love getting free points!! And… I love watching D-Cot Youtube streams! However, there have been a couple that I’ve missed, so I would have been mad if I wasn’t able to get the free points! So…. I guess I’m indifferent. I think its a good idea, absolutely!
November 29, 2017 at 9:16 am #57047I think it would encourage people to watch. People love points! I personally would watch either way but I will say that my suggestion if points are offered would be making the live streams at a set time. I know that’s hard with family obligations and not knowing how the evening will go, but I think it’s more feasible for viewers to tune in if they know the time. I was not on a computer during the last one so I did not get any notification that you were live and missed it. If I know what time it is I could plan to tune in. Unless I did something wrong and everyone else got notifications to their phone or something?
November 29, 2017 at 9:20 am #57052@starbee that’s a good idea. For the last live-stream, I just had my ipad open to youtube, and I just kept refreshing every few minutes to see if it had started yet. I was just about to give up and shut my ipad off for the night, when it started. Having a set time would probably make it possible for more people to plan their evenings and be able to tune in.

I think that if this happens that this suggestion would be a necessity. Life is hectic and not knowing when they will be at some point in an evening is not conducive to that.
November 29, 2017 at 9:25 am #57055perhaps points for watching live and partial points for watching later (if available)?

I have an iPad but I didn’t think about doing that usually in the evenings I’m all over the place: cooking, cleaning, feeding and walking the dogs… I am rarely near a computer unless I plan to be.

And it’s a waste of Steve’s time if he puts effort into a stream that no one tunes in to because we didn’t know it was happening.

Yep! Exactly right.
November 29, 2017 at 9:40 am #57062Interesting idea! It’d certainly make me make a more concerted effort to catch those live streams! But I’ll admit I’m simply bad at remembering to tune in at the right times.
November 29, 2017 at 3:37 pm #57145I agree with @Nascfan point about those of us out west and missing it (mainly because I am out west and this affects me directly ) but I also think that this would absolutely drive viewership. If we all know that on xx day @steve is doing a live stream at xx o’clock then yes I believe more people would watch, especially if they’re going to get free points!
December 14, 2017 at 1:47 pm #59175Do you post when the live streams are? I have not seen any of them. Maybe some kind of email blast would also help gain viewers! But yes I think xtra points would be a nice gesture for those who make it.
