BREAKING: Video of First Disney Skyliner Gondola Spotted Traveling the Line
February 8, 2019 at 8:32 pm #102057The second I heard the announcement of the gondolas, I disliked it. Now I’m all for giving things a chance, but here are my main points as to why I think it’s a bad idea:
- No Air-Conditioning: It’s Florida where 90% of the time it’s hot and humid. I don’t care how good of a job you did with airflow.
- Landscape & Soundscape: These large pillars are ugly and are an eyesore. I don’t know how loud they are, but I imagine once the units hit the pillar wheels it will make noise.
- Money Pit: I don’t know the exact cost this project, but I imagine it was a lot. The guests will ride it once or twice and most likely go with the usual means of transportation: bus/monorail/boat. They will then be a project of yesterland sitting to rot like the People Mover in Disneyland.

PREACH!!!
February 9, 2019 at 9:09 am #102068I don’t know, I don’t think I will be riding them
February 9, 2019 at 9:39 am #102069Now that you mention Air-Conditioning, if it rain due to in climate the gondolas it self should close with the heavy down pour.

That’s true !!

Another reason why I don’t understand their creation!
February 10, 2019 at 4:07 pm #102158As my sister-in-law put it, “How could we improve Disney transportation? We have buses which have crashed. We have monorails which have crashed. And we have boats which are super slow. How about we invest our money in a sky bucket with no air conditioning that goes over the road?”
Also I’m not a fan of the art style Star-Lord and Gamora are in, but that’s the least of my complaints

February 21, 2019 at 11:03 am #103076February 21, 2019 at 11:17 am #103086I really don’t want to hate on them, but all those poles and cables are such an eyesore
WDW has such beautiful scenery, why ruin it?
February 21, 2019 at 12:45 pm #103095Is that really how fast they go? I hope that isn’t the final speed. Seems like a short trip! Although I suppose it would help with the lines….
February 21, 2019 at 2:35 pm #103114@starbee I couldn’t agree more! They’re so big, clunky, and obstructive…I guess it’s not a big deal in the parking areas, but right smack in the International Gateway? Blech…

I’m firmly in your camp.
February 21, 2019 at 3:31 pm #103118My mom still doesn’t believe me that they brought them back. She said “Surely not? Why would they do that?”
the million dollar question mom!
oh and she hates that they’re calling them “gondolas”. She said “gondolas are boats you ride in Italy”
