It’s going to be crazy ! Heck they could of opened a new theme park just for Star Wars !!
May 3, 2019 at 8:23 am #109287We will be at Disneyland a couple of weeks after it opens. I noticed that Disneyland has the period from May 31-June 23 for advanced reservations to be able to enter and experience Galaxy’s Edge, but WDW is not offering the same “reservations” period. Maybe because there are SO many more resorts at WDW that they could not offer the experience as an additional perk. Here is the info directly from the Disneyland page:
To visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park between May 31, 2019 and June 23, 2019, Guests will need valid theme park admission and will be required to make a reservation to access the land. There is no additional cost to make a reservation, but reservations are subject to availability.
At this time, online reservations to visit the new land are no longer available. However, you may still be able to get a reservation with a hotel stay. Guests staying at one of the 3 Disneyland Resort hotels between May 31, 2019 and June 23, 2019 will receive a designated reservation to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during their stay (one reservation per registered Guest); valid theme park admission is required. If the hotel reservation is cancelled, the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge reservation will also be cancelled.

I think there’s a couple reasons for this, not that I know the reason for sure. I think as you said, they couldn’t extend that offer to every resort guest at WDW because there would be too many. I also think it’s because the lands are identical and so many people want to be the first to see it that they’ll be flocking to Disneyland in May. While it will still be crazy in WDW in August, people will have been visiting Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland for 3 months by then so some of the newness will be gone, maybe enough to not need the advanced reservations. Or maybe I’m completely wrong and here a couple months WDW will have advanced reservations too
May 3, 2019 at 10:51 am #109332I think no reservations at WDW is a combination of the sheer number of rooms along with there are four theme parks and two water parks at World with just the two theme parks at Land, and those being smaller in themselves. World *should* be able to handle the crowds a little better. Will waits still exceed four, five hours? Oh yeah! Most assuredly! But on the whole the resort itself should spread people out a little more. Then again, like starbee said, watch them come out in June with a reservation system!
May 9, 2019 at 3:33 pm #109823It makes sense I guess but I didn’t know those with Galaxy’s Edge reservations have a 4 hour limit in there!
May 10, 2019 at 12:43 pm #109853GOOD because oh. my. god. with the crowds.
May 10, 2019 at 1:08 pm #109854as long as the wait for the rides stays at a reasonable pace, i guess this would be good. wonder how it will work out, if they would even try it at Studios

They’re saying they want to keep the wait time at a max of 2 hours over at Disneyland
May 10, 2019 at 3:27 pm #109868do we think there’ll be an early opening for passholders? didn’t they do that for pandora or am i making that up?

You mean over at WDW? Yes Annual Passholders got to preview Pandora before it opened. I would have thought if there was going to be a preview/soft opening for AP holders in Disneyland we’d know by now. It opens in 3 weeks!
May 10, 2019 at 4:29 pm #109872oops yeah i meant at WDW and oof yeah okay i don’t think there’s going to be a soft opening then. i didn’t realize how close it was to opening in DLR! fingers crossed though, i have a trip the week before it opens in WDW and i’d love to see it before all the madness ensues
