My favorite resort is the Wilderness lodge. I prefer to stay i n the villas to get away from the bustle. The theming of the Wilderness Lodge is amazing! Arriving at the lodge is even relaxing as it has a themed driveway that sets the mood before you see the hotel. Being a deluxe resort there are many things to do there that help keep the kids from needing to be at the parks every minute. They enjoy the pools, marsh mellow roasting, the hidden mickey hunt… about the only one they don’t like is the Electrical Water Pageant which of course their parents love.
Where else at WDW can you wait for a geyser to go off while watching for your boat to the Magic Kingdom to arrive or sit in the lobby next to the giant fireplace during January and eat Mickey bars. Speaking of bars, The Territory Lodge serves Moosehead beer on draft! That in itself raises this hotels ratings to the top in my world.
I guess I should hit enter now before this is 3 pages long
April 23, 2017 at 8:07 am #23534I’ve only stayed at Shades of Green, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Port Orleans Riverside, Pop, and a couple of the All Stars. I would say my favorite was Port Orleans. We did a split stay at AKL that year and I remember thinking it was going to be sad to downgrade to a mod after the AKL but I was just as happy with POR. It seemed more like I was LIVING there. The rooms seemed like little condos with the way the front doors were kind of on a “porch”. Walking through the lush plants along the pathways just seemed like a neighborhood and I liked that!
May 11, 2017 at 9:21 am #26710I’ve stayed at the Fort Wilderness Log cabins, Port Orleans Riverside, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, Art of Animation, and the Polynesian. The winner is Polynesian no doubt, but staying there for a trip and not a spending one day away from the parks felt like a waste. Art of Animation would be my second. I disliked the rooms at Port Orleans but enjoyed the theming, but very much hated the Caribbean Beach. So disorganized and the rooms are long overdue for a refurb.
May 11, 2017 at 2:22 pm #26784Wow either Wilderness Lodge or Polynesian. I haven’t stayed at the poly since I was a small child though, but I’ve been there for breakfast a few times and it’s absolutely beautiful. I just love the tropical vibe.
The Lodge is great too and it’s also beautifully decorated and peaceful, I just like the aesthetic of the Polynesian more.
May 22, 2017 at 3:04 pm #28462I have stayed at All Star Movies, Sports, Art of Animation in the Little Mermaid section and Lion King Suites, Pop Century, Port Orleans French Quarter and the Wilderness Lodge.
Out of all so far, I have to say the Wilderness Lodge. Especially going in December when can get chilly out and really enjoy the theme and decor at Christmas time. I do love the AOA suites for the extra space and Nemo pool. But the All Star Movies holds a very special place in my heart as stayed there first time I took my son, he just turned 4. Stayed there three years in a row, so many memories of being there when he was little. And now that he is 15, his fave is Wilderness Lodge as well. Hoping to try Polynesian someday.May 26, 2017 at 9:58 am #29448It was and still remains the Wilderness Lodge, especially now since the new changes have been made, The GF is a close second.
May 30, 2017 at 1:18 pm #29991I have stayed at all the value and moderates. My favorite would have to be Port Orleans French Quarter. It’s smaller and feels more private. I love the Riverside area too, but the French Quarter edges it out by a bit. My next one would be Pop Century. It’s a family favorite. Finally, Coronado Springs.
I’d really like to stay at Wilderness Lodge sometime, but the amount of time we spend at the hotel makes it not worth a significant upgrade in costs.
June 6, 2017 at 12:42 pm #31525Boardwalk has always been our resort. We LOVE walking in the EPCOT back entrance and it just works for us.
June 7, 2017 at 10:47 am #31843One of my favorites has always been The Swan and Dolphin because of how close in proximity it is to Epcot, but The Boardwalk will always be super special to me because I loved the atmosphere and roaring 20’s theme that came along with it. Also, when me and EvenLittlerMermaid were much younger, playing with the nickelodeons outside of our hotel room was so much fun!! Not to mention how peaceful it would always be to wake up early and enjoy the scent of fresh pastries when the Boardwalk Bakery just whipped up a fresh batch for the morning.
Plus, it’s Dad’s favorite, and father knows best when it comes to all things Disney.
June 7, 2017 at 10:55 am #31850Hi Jillian!
It is so good to find another Swanphin fan. I have been staying there since it opened. We actually stayed the first time during their soft opening. They treat us very well and I love the fact that if I am a bit hungry at 7:30 at night I can just walk over to Paris for a snack.
June 12, 2017 at 6:20 pm #32952I really really love POP. We’ve stayed there four times and will probably stay again. Despite being so huge, the sections make it feel smaller and intimate. We really love the 50’s section. The amenities are really great in terms of pools, shop, and food choices.
– Stayed at Music and it was okay. At the time it was getting kind of run down and once we started staying at POP that was the only value we wanted to stay at.
– I love Caribbean Beach Resort. The theming is beautiful, incredibly peaceful, and really makes you feel like you’re at an island resort. But I hated the fact that it was so spread out. It took 15 minutes to walk to the main hall for coffee in the morning. The bus situation was a drag having so many stops around the resort.
– POFQ was my dream resort for a long time I wanted to stay there SO badly. When I finally stayed there I was honestly kind of disappointed. It’s a lovely property, I love that it’s so small and compact, I love that the buses are easy to get. But the pool area was kind of blah and I was really disappointed in the food choices. There weren’t many options and a few meals on site and we were sick of it – I guess POP really spoiled me.
I’ve never stayed at any of the luxury resorts but we’ve visited every one of the hotels. I’d really love to stay at either the Swan or Dolphin just because they’re so lovely and in such proximity to EPCOT. Wilderness Lodge or Poly would be on my list too. (Who am I kidding I’d happily take a shot at ANY of the luxury resorts ) :p
June 28, 2017 at 11:08 pm #35979I’ve only stayed at All Star Movies, All Star Music, and Pop Century. Of the 3 I like Pop the best. I’m a very nostalgic guy so I love the references to the past. I’d love to stay at Art Of Animation sometime (Little Mermaid room of course).
June 29, 2017 at 7:12 am #35991I’d also like to try Art of Animation, but I’d like to try the Lion King Suites. The extra room including the extra bathroom look perfect for our family!
June 29, 2017 at 7:40 am #35999I’ve stayed at AoA, but only a Pixar room (once Finding Nemo, and once Cars). Definitely awesome but I would love to try Lion King
