July 11, 2017 at 11:22 am #38049Oh @ferg I just want to wrap your family in hugs.
My story isn’t all that exciting. I remember my first trip to Disneyland. I was about 3. I was afraid of EVERYTHING except for Dumbo. If any of the characters came up to me, I freaked out. I couldn’t even go on the carousel. I was obsessed with Mary Poppins at that point in my life and in the movie, the carousel horses come alive and run away. I was terrified that would happen.
My most vivid memory of that day though is when we were in line for Snow White. If you’ve been to DL, you now that the evil queen opens the curtains of the window that’s above the ride entrance. On this day, the line was fairly long, and my mom was carrying me. She had me up in her arms facing away from the ride (so I was facing Peter Pan) and my dad was behind her playing with me. My mom turned around to talk to my dad and I was now facing the Snow White ride. At that moment, the queen opened the curtains and when I saw her……I flipped out. Like flat out refused to go on the ride after that. I actually didn’t go on it until I was about 12 because I was so afraid of the queen/witch.
July 12, 2017 at 10:49 am #38295I was spending a day at the Magic Kingdom wearing my custom made Backside Of Water shirt. While in the Hall of Presidents I had a Cast Member ask where I got it. I said it was custom made. He said he used to be a Jungle Cruise skipper and he loved it so much.
Later that day I was in Adventureland and got in the queue for my 4th Cruise that day. I got the best Skipper I ever had. Skipper Sergio.
In addition to the script he sang snippets of songs and during the backlog at the load/unload dock we discussed Disney movies. It was great to have a little extra magic added in.
As I was exiting the boat Skipper Sergio stopped me and said my shirt was the most awesome thing hes ever seen. He DEMANDED I stay on board for another cruise. He introduced me as a Skipper-In-Training and let me steer the boat. It was my best Jungle Cruise experience ever!
