D-COT Daily Disney Question #74
While on a Disney vacation, would you rather get up early to get to the park at opening OR stay late in the park at closing?
July 1, 2020 at 8:53 am #136168Ahem, do both! When we go, we always have to get our money’s worth. Disney is not cheap so if we’re there, we always get there well before rope drop and stay as late as we want. Sometimes it’s until park close, sometimes not. Just depends on how we’re feeling and what we got done that day.
July 1, 2020 at 8:56 am #136169I typically do both. I like to have a few moments to beat the crowds and ride a couple of rides with no lines but I also like staying for the closing shows and enjoying the night time atmosphere. I have rarely stayed late at AK but the one time I did, I loved how it looked. It’s super dark there lol. I’m getting too old to go commando like I do and I need to stop trying to get my monies worth and enjoy it a little more.
July 1, 2020 at 9:05 am #136172I agree with Eagle90 , do both and have a respite mid day, visit an adjacent hotel or go back to the room!
Actually, I had a coworker with a 5 year old going to the World, they were staying at one of the Disney Springs area hotels and that was my suggestion, for them to step out of the park for a few hours mid day. They did that and went to the GF from the MK one day and loved it, gave them time/space to cool off, the kiddo thought it was cool because they got to ride the monorail , it was a plus, plus, plus all around.

July 1, 2020 at 9:35 am #13617671 – I think it would be the walk down Main Street with all the smells combined, The Confectionery, Starbucks, The Bakery & Casey’s Corner
73 – Hmmm probably would say the small Island pools at CBR. Usually nice and quiet when we get there cause we normally don’t hit the pool till after we get back from the parks at night. All the other pools are closed at that time.
July 1, 2020 at 9:37 am #136177Ooops forgot #74 – We do both depending on what we have planned for the day
July 1, 2020 at 10:43 am #136185#74 – i used to be both…but i don’t really LOVE the morning press of the crowd. i went with my mom once and was baffled at her rolling out of bed, getting breakfast and not going to the park until 10…but i actually get it now. i’d much rather miss the morning craziness before the park opens, relax and walk about…do my handful of FPs, eat something and stay late to watch the fireworks. maybe someday…a few years from now…
July 1, 2020 at 11:42 am #13619574 – We do a mix of both, depending on the parks. We always get to parks in the morning, but with a mid-day break, we may hit another park in the evening and close it out. We can’t do that everyday, it wears us out too much and gets to be less than enjoyable. I’m much more of a morning person in my regular life, so it’s easier for me to get to the parks early. Plus when we’re there with @Nascfan, he brings games to play while we wait for rope drop
July 1, 2020 at 1:02 pm #136201Both. I’m usually there open to close

You’re an animal haha!
We go in the am and can make it long once it get dark out…. we must be solar powered
July 2, 2020 at 7:27 am #13623473 hmmm for the ones I’ve been to recently, we really love the pool at CBR but AOA’s big pool with the underwater music (thanks @jamiedawn27 who I think reminded me of that in her comment). It’s such great decor at that pool, so fun!
74 we are def night time people who sleep in and stay later

When its raining on your Disney vacation, do you prefer to use a PONCHO? or and UMBRELLA?
July 2, 2020 at 8:25 am #136239Definitely PONCHO, for me & my wife it is just easier to move about, less encumbered.
An umbrella to cover both of us is just too big to carry and the ponchos are a cheaper if lost. Plus WHO wants to be carrying a potential lightning rod around with them?! As he goes off humming “One Little Spark” and asking “what are we going to use lightning for?” We don’t use the cheap, cheap, cheap $.99 disposable ponchos, in the past we have used the lower end plastic army green ones, biggest thing is finding one long enough to get coverage over our shorts. We have recently gotten some frog toggs which are great, but somewhat expensive, i know that contradicts my first statement in this paragraph, but they are breathable! At least I won’t be as wet from the sweat as if I stood in the rain.
July 2, 2020 at 8:42 am #13624075 – Poncho! There are too many people around and I don’t want to impale someone with an umbrella!
