Wow! My son has a 3D printer and has printed a few things but nothing on that scale. Absolutely incredible! Would love to continue seeing the updates as they happen.
How did you project the show on the castle?
February 27, 2018 at 8:40 pm #68013Eventually, when I have free time and some money (they are currently mutually exclusive), I would like to do a full Castle, hub and main street. But I dont see that happening anytime in the next 5 yrs or so.
LOL… Currently mutually exclusive… That made me chuckle out loud. This was all done on a strict budget. Printer was $160. Time…. well… that’s another issue entirely
February 27, 2018 at 8:43 pm #68014The enhancements and additions are awesome! I love how this is coming along!
Thanks again!!! I will keep ya updated Nascfan
February 27, 2018 at 8:47 pm #68015This looks incredible! Paint or no paint. I am in awe of how it turned out!
Thanks! Soooo you saying paint it! Just messing. It’s a lot of fun to work on. Makes me smile
February 27, 2018 at 8:54 pm #68017I have no comprehension of how a 3-D printer works. It blows my mind. And then I see what you are doing and my mind gets blown the rest of the way!! I’m glad you are painting it. If you left it white, I’m afraid it would get really dirty with dust, etc. The paint will help with that. This is AMAZING!
I’m with him! This is unbelievably incredible! Especially with the projections too! I would have believed that was footage from the Magic Kingdom! What an interesting and unique hobby! I do not have the time or patience for that
Why thank you very much starbee! Yup, that was footage from the Magic Kingdom. We do about 7 different projection shows at my house including the 2 newest. “Once Upon a Time” and “Happily Ever After”. I will put up a few more youtube videos when the stage and restrooms are completed. I have everything modeled except the restrooms. I just started this hobby and have been enjoying it ever since.

I hope your son keeps pluggin away at it. My printer is a $160 budget printer so anything is possible. If not, asking him for it!
I will most certainly keep you and everyone one else updated on this forum. Everyone has been sooooo supportive and that is much appreciated.
I use a small LED projector that is 4 x 4 x 1 inches and very portable. The shows are the actual shows from Disney World that is projected on the castle. I got the ok from Disney to have the Youtube video you see up for people to view, as long as I am not making money on it. (Which I am not) I am going to put up a couple more so hopefully they will do the same for the next couple videos. I may build a compartment into the bottom of the castle to house the projector when not is use. This way, if I take the Castle someplace to show it, the projector always goes with it. Always thinking and never sleep

Yes… As long as you get a great spot and a camera that can record high quality in low light video (4k) is your best bet, you can take that footage and and project it like we did.
You can search youtube for some light show examples. The one we used was sourced from a youtube video.

April 14, 2018 at 11:54 am #73348HI ALL!!!!
For those that have been following this build, things got a little out of hand. As you can see, the castle is now twice as big.
I added a the full stage “to scale” of course, but it ended up being MUCH bigger than expected. Had a “Beast” of a time printing it.
Also, added a couple pillars and projected “Once Upon a Time” and “Happily Ever After” on it. Looks amazing. I did record this for youtube but after looking at it, the camera was a little out of focus. Will record again and share. I will also share the total print time for the stage build and update you later. The stage ended up being an additional 10 parts.
What is left? Well there are 2 wider pillars that you see in the pics provided. Those are just placeholders as I designed the full restrooms that are attached to those pillars. I will print the restrooms and update you after. Then it is on to post print work. Sand, Fill, Paint….
Let me know what ya think.

April 14, 2018 at 4:24 pm #73354AnonymousInactiveXPI just saw the pictures of this earlier today and just now watched the movie. OMG I completely agree, I forgot that I was watching a projection onto your 3D printed castle and felt like I was watching the real castle. This is just amazing. Great work!
