Just incase anyone did not see the promo from Disney the other day. They’re offering a free dining plan depending on what type of resort your stay was booked at. Valid for any cancelation after March 1st. Only down fall for us is that we booked through our DVC and its not valid for DVC members!
So if you booked a trip not through DVC check it out and get something positive out of this mess.
March 30, 2020 at 11:08 am #128047I’m not DVC but heard this about the offer yesterday.
March 30, 2020 at 11:16 am #128048My father called yesterday and spoke with Disney and was told it was not valid for DVC bookings with points. Maybe its changed ? No clue. But thanks for the info.
March 30, 2020 at 11:59 am #128058This is what I was watching.
He mentions DVC just a few minutes into the video
Maybe the details aren’t all clear yet and it’s not forDVC?
Hope you get some kind of offerMarch 30, 2020 at 12:11 pm #128059yeah if you read it, it sounds like it is only for those who had packages already reserved. so if you are DVC and just bought tickets too bad. that’s how i took it. also, i don’t know if it is really anything different than a normal sale? are they telling you that your hotel reservation is the same (no change in cost) but they’ll give you the meal plan on top to keep you from not coming back?
my trip is June 10…we have DVC reservation and i bought tickets thru UT so i am guessing i am screwed if they are still closed.March 30, 2020 at 1:03 pm #128063@jamiedawn27 on the video, he says could be room only reservations that fall in the closure dates. Even if that room only reservation was for just one day, you’re still eligible but now it’s a package with minimum of two days. Pretty sure that’s what he said. I was doing work as I was listening so that may be incorrect
We rented DVC through David’s for August and purchased tickets through UT. From what I’ve read, if Disney is closed for your trip, UT is extending tickets to use in the future, but I’m going to be at the mercy of the owner with my rental. Not sure what I’m hoping for…
*Disney still being closed and possibly getting a refund….possibly not….possible getting rental date changed if available
*Disney being open and being there in the of heat and humidity of August in the middle of max capacity Christmas-time type crowds
*Disney being open, but choosing to cancel anywayI just read an article that, best-case scenario, the area where I live is projected to peak with Coronavirus in August.
August.
IT’S STILL MARCH
I can’t cross state lines now, and I may still not be allowed to cross state lines in August if that rings true.
I hope to hell it does not
March 30, 2020 at 3:10 pm #128075@missingWDW you and i are in the SAME boat. rental thru David’s and tickets thru UT. our trip is in June so i already have my tickets and rental loaded onto MDE. i am guessing the sale above won’t work for either of us. we bought travel insurance and deep down i almost wish it was just canceled so i didn’t have to fret about ALL the money we have in this trip. i figure it could go a few ways for us…1) disney world/resorts all still closed – travel insurance refund if disney/UT don’t take care of it first (they prob would) 2) DW is closed but hotels aren’t – UT/DW prob take care of ticket issue but doubt ins kick in since hotel open so prob stuck going and hanging out at the hotel for a week (there are worse things) or 3) everything is open and i go with a billion hand wipes and pray
like you said tho…who knows about our home state? i’m in iowa…barely anything here yet.
March 30, 2020 at 5:48 pm #128103We were supposed to be in WDW starting April 26th. We cancelled a couple weeks ago. I seriously considered rescheduling this fall, but I really, really want to see Flower & Garden again. Maybe we’ll try to go next April or May again. Free dining is tempting, but I think traveling this year is out with all the economic fallout from this mess. The hubs business stands to loose a lot of money with this.

That’s kind of where I’m at. My trip was April 23 for Flower & Garden. I could reschedule for the Fall (and I love F&W) but the point was to see Flower & Garden. On top of that, like you said, hubby and I don’t think now is the time to book a trip with all the economic uncertainty so this year looks like it’s out. I am so sorry to hear about your husband’s business and I pray things will be okay
March 31, 2020 at 11:04 am #128131it’s like we are all waiting in lines for rides…that might take 1-2 years to get on

OMG that’s so depressing
April 7, 2020 at 1:56 pm #128615@jamiedawn27
I reached out to UT and David’s to inquire about getting refunds
April 8, 2020 at 9:02 am #128635@missingWDW but your trip isn’t until August right? my hubby is giving me whiplash as fast as he changes his mind…one minute he’s like “this is stupid…we are young and healthy…we can go and be careful and probably no one will be there!” and the next he’s like “we shouldn’t go…how do we get our money back?” i have to make our FPs on Saturday (why couldn’t it be a work day so i’d already be getting up?) so for now i’m going forward. let me know what you hear from either!!!

Haven’t heard from UT at all yet.
David’s sent me a form response that basically said their priority is March and April check-ins right now. Ok, I get that, but the point of my email was to offer my August stay to someone who lost their March/April reservations and was looking to rebook for the summer.
Whatever. It’s fine. It’s too far off to worry about now. David’s will eventually get back to me, and I’ll see where things lie at that point.
I am still within the 90 day period to cancel with UT, but I won’t do that unless I hear from David’s that I can get a refund.
Sooooo basically, our trip is ON
Right now I have to worry about finishing up my school year, and getting my kids through theirs.
And staying healthy
April 9, 2020 at 8:52 am #128729@missingWDW yeah i’ve come to accept i’m either losing a crap load of money or going. *head slap* pretty sure the park will open on June 1st as that is their plan.
