Think we will see him at Mickey’s Not So Scary next year? :ghost:

Chapek would be a decent CEO of a retail chain but didn’t have the right mindset for an entertainment Industry.

The social media comments are hysterical! LOL Some of my favorites:

“Ding dong the witch is dead”
“There’s nothing else I want for Christmas”
    “BUH BYE”
“This is what I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving”
    “Dreams DO come true”
“Fantasmic back, Paycheck out – never underestimate the power of Sorcerer Mickey”

Wonder if they made Chapek put all the stuff from his desk in a brown box, check it to make sure he did not try to steal a pen or pencil and have security escort him to the gate like so many places do? :surprised:

Also, is he banned from the parks now? :eticket:

Like the sound of this from Iger.

“I’ve asked Dana Walden, Alan Bergman, Jimmy Pitaro, and Christine McCarthy to work together on the design of a new structure that puts more decision-making back in the hands of our creative teams and rationalizes costs”

    plus

“I fundamentally believe that storytelling is what fuels this company, and it belongs at the center of how we organize our businesses”

Storytelling IS the force :babyyoda: (sorry could not resist) that drives the Disney company, not just numbers. I think that Walt would have agreed. :willie:

Here is to hoping the winds keep blowing the right way at the Walt Disney Corporation!

“new structure that puts more decision-making back in the hands of our creative teams” and “I fundamentally believe that storytelling is what fuels this company, and it belongs at the center of how we organize our businesses”

Those two things are what makes him a better leader of this company than Chapek in my opinion. Chapek never got it. Disney is unique, not like any other company. You can’t have it function like any other company. Build on what Walt, Roy, and all the imagineers did before. Do not tear down their ideals and ideas but expand upon them. I’m certainly not naive enough to think they will ditch Genie+ and bring back included with the price of admission fastpass (even though I would love that) but I do have hope that maybe certain changes will be made.

Wife and I were talking last night, he could be a hero to so many just by stating that beginning on a certain date (tomorrow would be good) that the no park hopping rule until after 2:00 pm is eliminated. It would cost them nothing! And yet, people would throw roses at his feet. There are plenty of incremental changes that could be done for the better. Time will tell if we see them.

Those are such optimistic comments from Iger!

I agree, that’s what Chapek wasn’t getting. Disney’s vision and customer service set them apart, but Chapek made it feel like a con operation instead. Disney’s attitude changed from “how can we make this the most magical day of your life?” to “who cares if you’re happy or not? I’ve got your cash! :gold: ” which takes them to the other extreme. To an extent the Walt Disney Co. has always seen the company as a whole, (as I referenced previously) cutting entertainment at WDW to recover costs from an over budget Shanghai, but Chapek took it too far. After 30,000 CMs were laid off during the early days of Covid, no one is on board with cutting WDW employees AGAIN because of Disney+. I also agree with you that way too much damage has been done, possibly irreparable damage at that, but there are ways Iger can start small and at least from here on out (hopefully) things will be going in a different direction back home.

Absolutely! Why is that even still around?! Super quick and easy fix that would make so many people super happy

The 2pm rule has got to go. And don’t make people pick their park ahead of time. Give one free fast pass with entry and then let them buy more any time they want (not at midnight the day they go)…all spontaneity is GONE.

and for the love of God, bring back perks. The only perk left is transportation from your resort to the parks. That’s it. I’m gonna point to sea world of what is EXCELLENT perks…their annual pass gives you free parking, good discounts of food and souvenirs…and special monthly perks including things like a $10 voucher to use on anything you want! That is 100% customer service. Of and I don’t have to tell them I’m coming. They are just happy I showed up. :P

Here’s hoping things change for the better cuz right now I’m out. My money going to sea world or universal (for obv reasons lol)

That’s a neat hybrid idea! Keeps their cash cow giving milk but also gives the guest something included in the already high price of admission. Yes, so many perks gone. Bring back package delivery to the resort. UO delivers souvenirs you buy not just to the resort but to your ROOM the next day! They don’t even have to do that, just bring back delivery to the resort the next day. I’ll buy something in the morning and ship it back to my resort. But I won’t if I have to carry it around all day. And then at the end of the day I’m likely too tired to care and so I don’t spend the money. They can make so much more money that way.
Come on Bob I., make us proud! LOL

Definitely this. My favorite thing to do on the last day of a trip was go the bus stop and whatever park bus came first is where I would spend my last few hours.

One thing we noticed when it came to our last trip that I would like to see fixed is that the onsite retail outlets can’t talk to each other. We saw a shirt at Art Of Disney in EPCOT, but they did not have my size, dang me for being average. The cast members answer was you need to check AOD in Disney Springs or on Mainstreet. But they can not call or see the inventory of another store, apparently this goes for any onsite retail. You can’t even call, believe me we tried, every number just rolled to central reservations. I guess I can understand some what, you dont want the phone ringing off the wall, but calling from store to store or just being able to look online. What the heck?! I was complaining to my wife if Chapek wanted to fix something, there is a good start! It just happened that we were going to be in Disney Springs a day later and yes the AOD in DS had the Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride Vault Collection button up shirt  , but we were not going to make a special trip, just to find out. Plus AOD has no online outlet? Huh?

Who remembers the Shop Disney Parks app? Used it to find who on site had Mickey Polo shirts in my size, bang, we went and got one. What is it with me and shirts? I also wish there was still a way you could buy anything from the park online, I think the Shop Disney App/Site is pretty lacking, IMHO. Funny thing is I remember searching the Shop Disney Parks app/site for Fort Wilderness and saw I could have bought RV specific toilet paper and 50amp RV plug from Disney! LOL

@paydirtburt I totally remember the Disney parks app. I loved it. Loved a chance at park merch. I hate searching the shop Disney.

    @nascfan
good point about spending. Without sending it back I’m like 10% likely to buy. I don’t want to carry stuff! They just killed the impulse buying!

Don’t get me started! :P ShopDisney is so bad. Useless search feature and like you said, you can’t find where something is anymore. Maybe they did that on purpose to stop flippers but there must be a better way
