and hello, Princess and the Frog!
New Adventures with Princess Tiana Coming to Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Park
June 25, 2020 at 1:42 pm #135788I’ve only ridden it once, but I loved the theme. I guess it’s time for a change, but that is a classic ride. Kind of sad.
June 25, 2020 at 1:46 pm #135790Honestly, I’m not surprised by this. Disney has been shoving newer IP into everything lately (Maelstrom, Ellen, GMR, etc), so it’s not out of character for how they’ve been operating lately. I’m sad to see it go, but with Tony Baxter coming back to run this project, I have high hopes for the new take on it!
June 25, 2020 at 2:00 pm #135793i give this a huge fail. not happy about this AT ALL. splash mountain is super popular as it is. put the funds into fixing the audio and animatronics in CBJ

I (on the other hand) am Quite Excited that The Princess & The Frog is At last going to get an Attraction in the Disney Parks.
As they say The More People that Ride it, The More People will know about the Film.June 25, 2020 at 2:19 pm #135799I鈥檓 very sad to see this! Splash is such an iconic Disney ride! It鈥檚 very popular too. In my humble opinion it didn鈥檛 need a change in theme. I鈥檓 sure the new version of the ride will be lovely but it won鈥檛 be SPLASH. Splash has been one of my top favorite rides for as long as I can remember. I love so much about this ride. Truly, it was one of the rides I was looking most forward to introducing to Cole. Now that will never happen. It鈥檚 a hard pill to swallow knowing next time I go it won鈥檛 be there…

i have no doubt they will do a good job with it. but like @disneybug said it just won’t be SPLASH anymore
June 25, 2020 at 3:17 pm #135807Surprise, surprise, surprise!
June 25, 2020 at 4:30 pm #135816I am honestly 110% happy with this. Is Tiana the right fit for the mountain. eh? But I am happy they are changing it. Not simply because of reasons we don’t need to discuss here, but because it was boring, and LOUD (OMFG TOOO LOUD!) and my kids really disliked it. It just wasn’t entertaining. They had no idea what they were looking at because they don’t know the story, and IT WAS TOO LOUD. Last ride the whole boat had their hands over their ears at two different times.
But anywho, I’m glad they are changing it. Change is hard. Memories are for sure a real deal, but it’s a business. And they need to keep the kids coming back. And kids aren’t going to keep coming back when they don’t care for a ride. Last time I was there, the ride queue was almost entirely adults. Because a) it has no appeal for kids; and b) you get wet and kids don;t like to get their electronics wet.
The change won’t help youngens and their phone issues, but it will hopefully bring in the younger crowds, like my children, who just want a fun, entertaining ride with characters they know and love.
June 25, 2020 at 6:28 pm #135818Also very sad to see Splash Mountain be converted. Just like with the conversion of Maelstrom at the Norway pavilion. We haven’t been back to that attraction. The odd thing was i was doing gardening outside this morning wearing my Splash Mountain tank top! My husband read me the news about 4 p.m. I almost wanted to cry. If Haunted Mansion goes or gets watered down or dumbed down, we will never go back to Disney. That’s a fact.
I love Princess and the Frog. We own it. It could have gone in another place and I would have eagerly awaited the opening. And bought the merch.
June 26, 2020 at 3:39 am #135831I find this extremely sadenning but i’ll reserve judgement until I see its replacement. but i’ll sure miss that ‘ol Br’er rabbit
June 26, 2020 at 9:47 am #135843@GrimGrinningGhosts now i wish i had a splash mountain shirt!! i am sure it’ll show up on Etsy just like all the Maelstrom ones after that one was redone.
i will say that i actually didn’t mind the Frozen redo once it was completed so maybe this will be ok? i don’t know…i still just don’t feel like it fits into Frontierland…there has to be another movie that “fits” better with the theme.
